Camping

I'm back :-) Alas, I do not have any posts as I am going camping tomorrow. I know, crazy right. I am so ready to sit and relax and do something crafty, but adventure calls. Uni holidays will be over at the end of the month, and then I will be back to post about all the amazing snail mail I received whilst I was gone :-D

I love this photo. My camping spot will be nowhere near as scenic, but we are on the beach so it will still be lovely :-)

Goodbye for now

It's uni holidays here so tomorrow I will be leaving to work for a few weeks in Canberra at a cat and dog kennels :-) My little blog will be neglected whilst I am hanging out with all the adorable cats and dogs. So I will leave you with this great photo and be back in a couple of weeks. taa-taa!

Vintage Cards

The other day my mum discovered a box with all the cards she received as a child, pictures she drew, awards and other little keepsakes. The cards are so darn sweet! I spent hours going through them and they all have such lovely messages and drawings inside.

some mini cards and party invitations - these are all super small- all less than 10cm in length!

The box they are in is an old wooden cola box !

I scanned a few of my favourites. The scan definitely doesn't do them justice, especially because a lot of them have sparkles on them, but the images are still adorable.

You spin the wheel around on this one, mixing up the animals faces and names.

Hope you enjoyed them as much as I did :-) I wish cards were still as sweet as this! I always keep an eye out for unused vintage cards at op shops but I hardly ever find any, do you?

Collection Post: Planters

This collection is rather small and not too exciting as I only buy them if they are $3 or less but I thought I'd share anyway :-) I have to put price limits on myself or I would spend waaaay to much at op shops and antique malls.

I have this weird love for super kitsch ugly shell art and the duck planter definitely fits this category with its tacky googly eyes. I have a whole collection of shell art that I will probably never post because I only buy them if they are especially ugly haha. I kind of love ugly things; I also have a collection of bright gold ornaments that are made in Japan (like the donkey planter below).

Also I'm linking to op shop mama's collection post :-)

mail

A pile of outgoing mail :-) I haven't sent out much mail lately and have been rather slow replying to people >_> This is only some of what I sent out, it was too much to fit nicely in the photo haha.

I bought some red grid tissue paper from an oppy recently because it reminded me of math grid paper, and I made some envelopes. I like how you can see the confetti inside :-) However I'm not sure how well it will survive in the mail so I put an address on the postcard inside and as an afterthought added some washi tape to the corners. I should stop being so cheap and buy some of those lovely glassine envelopes that look so pretty filled with colourful goodies.

Pompoms & Frankie Gift Wrap

I made a bunch of pompoms using this clever technique and have been using them for wrapping and garlands :-)

The paper I used above is from the frankie gift paper book which my sister gave me for my birthday :-D It has ten of the prettiest designs and it came with some yellow twine and blue spotty washi tape! I simply LOVE using it!

Housewarming Present

My sister is moving into an amazing 70s red brick house (I am so jealous- I adore red brick houses) and so I made her a little housewarming present. I bought a cabbage flower plant (no idea what they're actually called) and a nice vintage painted pot and made a little banner to add a special touch :-)

faux bois mail ♡

I love imitation wood- not sure why, it's so tacky but I just love it! I snapped up some faux bois wrapping paper at an oppy and made the envelope below and added some dymo labels and a typewritten letter to go inside :-)

op shop finds

Some things I purchased at op shops a little while ago. Those two funny looking things in the middle are salt and pepper shakers! I think they are so sweet with their little tartan pompom hats. I am in love with the glasses! I never find a set of 6 matching ones that are cheap! The box is just a cute little tupperware container.

The Playtime Poodles book is brilliant- below are some pictures from it. A lot of the pages have rips and scribbles but I bought it anyway because it was only 20c and the pictures are so darn awesome! I love the bold colours!

Bowie cupcakes

Some David Bowie cupcakes I made for my sister. I bought the face thingo's off eBay - they're edible, but I can't say they taste the greatest. Still, they look fun :-) As hard as I try, I'm terrible at decorating cupcakes, it always just turns into a mess, so these are kinda a cheat way to make them look semi-decent :-P

cacti

I love love love cacti! I seriously can't get enough of them. I would buy a hundred and fill my whole room with them if I could but they are so darn expensive! These are my beloved cacti :-)

My ma bought this one for me at a garage sale and I love it!

I've had this one for over a year and I'm pretty sure he's dead because he hasn't grown in all that time, but oh well :-P I love the little mexican on the tag and the funny grammar.

I found this pot at an op shop. It's made out of aluminium, like those pretty vintage cups you see.

Buttons

Some buttons I embroidered :-) These are fun and easy to make - all you need is some pretty material and some self cover buttons which you can probably buy from most craft stores. I bought mine off etsy, and of course as soon as I had, I found a heap in an op shop for super cheap >_>

Free snail mail! :-)

I have been so hopeless with blogging lately- I've been rather busy with uni work >_> but I have a week long holiday coming up soon, so there will be time for crafty goodness and snail mail :-D Whilst procrastinating from study, I made a stack of envelopes out of some old disney magazines and I am so excited to use them!
So, if you want a splash of colour added to your postbox for free all you have to do is follow this blog and send me an email (em.odonnell94@gmail.com) with your address * (I promise I'm not a creep :-P) and I will send you a letter filled with goodies!

* your address will be entirely confidential and will not be published on this blog or in any photos :-)

Textile Letters

Below is an embroidered envelope I sent last year to Karina, author of textile letters. Textile letters is a project by Karina in which you can send her a letter and she will post it on her blog (this is mine) and reply with a sweet letter :-)
